News (2021) Status Quo RemainsStatus Quo Remains
The new year has dawned and the state of play remains the same – no rugby, or other amateur sport for that matter, for the foreseeable future.
‘The recent rise in Covid-related infections, and additional adjusted living regulations, has dashed any hopes of a short-term return to amateur rugby,’ says WP Rugby Referees’ Society chairperson Joey Salmans. ‘We have decided to remain below the radar at this stage: there is no indication, at this point, when we may be allowed to return to play. Therefore we have postponed our Executive strategic workshop and will re-schedule once we have a better idea of a return to play plan.’
‘In fact, all of the Society’s activities remain on hold for now. In the interim I encourage members to continue with their exercise and fitness programmes – it’s good for your mind and body! And above all stay safe – look after yourselves, your families and those around you. The basic precautions are still the most effective against the virus: wear a mask, wash your hands, social distance, and avoid crowds. Our safety is in our own hands.’
Updates on any changes to our situation will be communicated on our various news platforms.
